2022 Trends to Watch

Last year,  we named 2021 the year of video. And while we still believe in the power of video, there are a few other trends that we are closely watching in 2022.

Employee Recruiting

Businesses have been begging for employees and that will continue this year. Reaching potential job applicants where they are is more important than ever. Expecting job candidates to walk in your door without any effort is a thing of the past. Employers will be using different tactics to reach new employee pools in 2022.

Ecommerce and Free Shipping

If 2020 and 2021 showed us anything, it's that online sales are highly important for businesses. Consumers want to buy online. If they aren't buying, they are at least researching before visiting your brick-and-mortar business. The competition for lowest shipping prices is a major factor for many shoppers. Amazon has conditioned consumers to expect shipping in 2 days and for free. Online retailers will be vying to keep up this year to ensure their sales don't go elsewhere.

LinkedIn Is THE Place for Professionals

LinkedIn has seen some cyclical traction over the years. However, if you and your business aren't utilizing LinkedIn in 2022 you will be missing out. Users are not just searching for jobs, but are sourcing new vendors and connecting with individuals in their industry. It's a place to learn without the "here's what I ate for dinner last night" posts. The insights businesses have access to is incredibly helpful including seeing your followers, tracking competitors, sharing relevant/timely content and the ability to target for new employees ... you want to jump in now!

CTV and OTT

The popularity of streaming services means that traditional commercials are out. But the rise of in popularity of OTT (over the top) and CTV (connected TV) video content is opening up the ability for advertisers to reach consumers through online content and video on demand services. This means you can reach users who are connecting to video content through platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and more.

Yeah we know, we said this was big last year, but honestly ... it's not going anywhere. Sharing your story through video will keep your audience engaged and hanging around longer. Here are some staggering stats ...

  • By 2022 online videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic (that's 15X higher than 2017!)
  • 54% of consumers want to see more video content from brands and businesses they support
  • 84% of people say they've been convinced to buy a product/service by watching a brand's video
  • Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in text
