Are the Certificates Worth Getting?
Interested in getting into the Digital Marketing world? One of the best practices is to take online courses that are related to the field. Most online courses are free, and the knowledge presented is worth understanding. Not only will you learn the ins and outs of Digital Marketing, but the courses do a good job of presenting real-life examples that help you understand the material better. Although there are many certificates out there, here are the ones that I recommend obtaining.
Google Skillshop offers a plethora of certificates that you can achieve. The two main ones I recommend are the Google Ads and Google Analytics certifications.
For Google Ads, there are many courses you can take. You can get certified in Search, Display, Video, Apps, etc. While taking these courses, you will better understand the details of each respective campaign and ad groups. After completing the course, most will have a completion test to see how well you retained the knowledge and present you with your certification. Overall, taking these courses will help you make better decisions when selecting which campaign type will be more effective for your business or client.
For Analytics, there are many classes introducing the basics of Google Analytics. Whether you work for a large or small company, Google Analytics is a key player to better understand your online traffic. Being able to have that basic comprehension of the data and information presented can go a long way for your business. Here are some other benefits of gaining this certification:
- Insightful information on user behavior
- Identify/understand target market
- Analyze data to for ad content and SEO purposes
- Understand what device users are using – mobile, desktop, or tablet

If you are unfamiliar with HubSpot, it is a CRM platform with integrations and resources needed to connect marketing, content management, sales, and customer service. Essentially, this is a platform that helps your business with marketing and completing sales successfully. HubSpot is well-known for helping businesses attract website visitors and convert more qualified leads.
HubSpot has its own online training academy called, “HubSpot Academy.” HubSpot Academy is a resource for anyone in the marketing world. The courses offer high-quality information relating to sales and marketing best practices and developments. The lessons are in video format and presented by a HubSpot instructor. Also, there are mini-quizzes throughout each course to ensure that you are retaining the information. Below are some recommended courses:

There is no prerequisite needed for any of the courses listed. A nice thing about these online courses is that they will tell you the amount of time that it should take to complete the course, allowing you to go at your own pace and pick up where you left off. So, the initial question was, “Is it worth it?” and the answer is “Absolutely!”.
